Joey is bored and decides to look around for something to play with. He goes into his garage and sees a big brown box and asks his dad if he could have it. His dad looks at the box and says that Joey can have it to play with. Joey is overjoyed. He takes the box and runs into his room and starts pulling out his crayons. He colors one side like the front of a house. He cuts out windows and a door and colors bushes in the front. He goes in and out of the box to feel if it was homey enough. He stands back and doesn’t like the house theme. So he turns the box over to another side and starts drawing again but this time he decides to draw a spaceship. He likes his spaceship. He makes a window he can see through and wings on the top and side. He pretends to fly around space but wants to go some where. He gets out to the box and draws the surface of mars on the next side. He pretends that he is walking on its surface. Bouncing and moving slowly.
There once was a little boy
And he had a favorite toy
It didn’t move, light up, or make a sound
It was a box, plain and brown
He found it one day sitting on a shelf
He tried to get it down but he couldn’t do it by himself
So he sat down and thought until he finally knew
“I’ll ask dad, that’s was I’ll do!”
So he ran to his dad and asked for him to get it down
That old box on a shelf, plain and brown
Joey was so very happy
He ran to his room and
